đHi! Iâm Dr. Sarah Ballantyne, PhD, a science communicator specializing in health and nutrition who is passionate passionate about making nutrition science accessible, encouraging, and completely free from diet culture. The Nutrivore Newsletter is where I translate the latest research into clear, practical insights you can use to improve your healthâwithout restriction, shame, or perfectionism.
What Youâll Get as a Subscriber
Every Thursday, youâll receive a science-backed nutrition newsletter. I alternate between two formats.
The first format is a deep dive article that explores the links between our nutrient intake and our health, to highlight the value of a nutrients-first approach like Nutrivore. These articles demonstrate the importance of nutrients, approaching the topic from one of two sides:
Nutrients for a [Health Condition], which highlights all of the nutrients that contribute to our risk of a single featured health condition (including how it works, relevant clinical trials, and a brief summary of good food sources)
Health Problems from Not Enough [Nutrient], which highlights all of the health conditions whose risk is increased when we donât get enough of a single featured nutrient, how much different demographics need of that nutrient, and a list of the Top 25 Best Food Sources.
These deep-dive Nutrivore Newsletters include a printer-friendly PDF e-book version of the information as a special download just for paid subscribers!
The second format features a collection of bite-sized (pun, intended) sections to help you understand why nutrients matter, how to get them from whole foods, and how to apply that knowledge without diet rules, guilt, or overwhelm. This second âhighlight reelâ style of newsletter includes:
A Nutrient-Health Connection (for example, how vitamin C lowers anxiety)
A Featured Food rich in that nutrientâcomplete with history, fun facts, culinary uses, and its Nutrivore Score
A Nutrient-Dense Recipe inspired by the featured food
A Nutrivore Mindset Corner to support a healthier, more compassionate relationship with food
A Helpful Tip of the Week (gardening, cooking, or practical strategies)
These âhighlight reelâ Nutrivore Newsletters include two PDF downloads just for paid subscribers, including a variety of fact sheets, fridge lists, and printable recipes.
I plan to try out a third style of Nutrivore Newsletter which will be a deep dive article busting a common nutrition myth. These will be no more than monthly and will be the only style of newsletter that doesnât include a downloadable perk for paid subscribers.
